D. Brooks Holstein
Founder & Managing Partner
Brooks Holstein is the visionary leader behind LifeCare Properties, bringing to his role over four decades of experience in commercial real estate development nationwide. As Founder and Managing Partner, he guides the strategic direction of the company. Brooks’ expertise spans market and site selection, financing, and contract negotiation — skills honed throughout a career that began in retail development before transitioning into senior housing. His ability to identify high-growth markets and deliver high-quality projects has made LifeCare Properties a trusted partner for operators and investors alike.
Brooks’ professional journey began in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi. In 2006, he completed the Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, further refining his expertise in complex development projects.
A Mississippi-licensed Real Estate Broker, Brooks is actively engaged in both industry and community leadership. He was selected to serve as a Harrison County Commissioner on Mississippi Governor Haley R. Barbour’s Commission for Recovery, Rebuilding & Renewal following Hurricane Katrina, contributing to critical rebuilding efforts. Brooks has also served on the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation Board, reinforcing his commitment to philanthropy and leadership development.
Brooks maintains lifelong connections with his alma maters and professional networks. He is a Life Member of the University of Mississippi Alumni Association, the Omicron Delta Kappa Foundation Alumni Association, and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design Alumni Association. His involvement extends to the Academic Real Estate Initiative Alumni Advisory Board at Harvard, where he has contributed to shaping the next generation of industry leaders.
Currently, Brooks is a member of the Forbes Business Council and Fortune Connect, sharing insights on industry trends and strategies for successful development. His forward-thinking approach positions LifeCare Properties to create lasting value for investors and communities alike.
Deborah Holstein
Director of Design
As Director of Design of LifeCare Properties, Deborah Holstein oversees design and interior decisions for the company’s senior living communities. Her leadership ensures that each project reflects thoughtful, high-quality design aligned with LifeCare Properties' vision and commitment to excellence.
Deborah founded Design Associates, LLC, and holds multiple professional designations. She is certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), a licensed interior designer in Mississippi, and a registered interior designer in Louisiana. Deborah earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Mississippi and later completed an additional degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta and Portfolio Center.
Her work has earned numerous design awards, including Gold, Silver, and Bronze Professional Design Awards from the South Central and Louisiana District Chapters of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Deborah also received the prestigious Chapter Medalist Award from ASID in 2010.
In addition to her professional awards, Deborah’s work in historic preservation has been recognized by the Mississippi Heritage Trust and the National and Mississippi Registers of Historic Places. She is a longtime advocate for the arts and historic preservation, receiving multiple honors from the City of Biloxi, including the Arts & History Volunteer of the Year Award in 2011 and Heritage Preservation Awards.
With over 20 years of active membership in the ASID, Deborah has contributed to shaping the field of design. She also served nine years on the Interior Design Advisory Board for the Mississippi Board of Architecture, helping guide the standards and practices of the profession.
Adam Mitchell
Partner
Adam Mitchell is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the development and construction of projects, pursuing new markets and development opportunities, and building detailed proformas to support strategic growth. His role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of LifeCare Properties’ expansion plans and delivering high-quality results across all initiatives.
Adam holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University and a Master of Real Estate Development from Clemson University. His strong technical foundation and advanced knowledge of real estate development provide a unique blend of skills that drive informed decision-making and effective project management.
Adam is a licensed Mississippi Real Estate Salesperson and is pursuing a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.
Daniel J. Payne, CPA
Partner
Daniel Payne manages the financial operations of LifeCare Properties, including accounting, cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and capital management. He also plays a key role in developing proformas and sourcing both debt and equity to align with the company’s strategic growth initiatives.
Daniel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Mississippi State University and a Master of Business Administration from Delta State University.
Daniel is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Mississippi, bringing a strong foundation in financial management and business strategy to his role.
Wendy Barthe Peavy
Marketing Coordinator & Office Manager
Wendy is the creative force behind LifeCare Properties' brand identity, having conceptualized the company's logo and branding. As Marketing Coordinator, she drives LCP’s public relations, social media, and special events, playing a pivotal role in building brand awareness.
In addition to her marketing expertise, Wendy has served as Office Manager since 2005. Her comprehensive background is supported by a robust set of credentials. She has been a Mississippi licensed Real Estate Sales Associate since 2005 and earned the Graduate REALTOR Institute (GRI) designation in 2007. Recently, her participation in Vanderbilt University’s Generative AI Initiative has opened new pathways to enhance her creative tasks, furthering her innovative approach to marketing and management. She has earned Specializations in Prompt Engineering, Generative AI Leadership & Strategy, and Prompt Engineering for Law from Vanderbilt.
Wendy is actively engaged in her community as a member of the Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, the Biloxi Municipal Election Commission, and the Mississippi Association of REALTORS.
